Det har god vedh\u00e6ftning, filmdannende egenskaber, oliebestandighed og kolloid beskyttelse. Forureningsfri og nedbrydelige egenskaber, der sj\u00e6ldent ses i polymermaterialer. Sammenlignet med andre kemiske produkter har PVA og dets afledte produkter et meget bredt udviklingsrum, og nye anvendelser og nye sorter er stadig under kontinuerlig udvikling. I de traditionelle anvendelsesomr\u00e5der for PVA-produkter bruges de ud over at blive brugt som r\u00e5materialer til syntetiske vinylonfibre hovedsageligt i kl\u00e6bemidler, tekstilmasse, papirfremstilling osv.
