Elle peut \u00e9galement \u00eatre utilis\u00e9e dans la fabrication du papier comme liant pour am\u00e9liorer la r\u00e9sistance et la t\u00e9nacit\u00e9 du papier. Il peut \u00e9galement \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 pour fabriquer des v\u00eatements de travail sp\u00e9ciaux, des sutures chirurgicales, etc. Une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 modifi\u00e9e importante est la fibre de copolym\u00e8re greff\u00e9 de chlorure de vinyle et d'alcool polyvinylique, appel\u00e9e chlorure de vinyle en Chine. Elle utilise une solution aqueuse d'alcool polyvinylique \u00e0 faible degr\u00e9 de polym\u00e9risation comme milieu de dispersion et, sous l'action d'un catalyseur, la copolym\u00e9risation par greffage du chlorure de vinyle et de l'alcool polyvinylique ; \u00e0 partir de l'\u00e9mulsion de copolym\u00e8re obtenue, elle est fil\u00e9e par la m\u00e9thode de filage par \u00e9mulsion (voir filage des fibres chimiques). La fibre est ensuite soumise \u00e0 un processus de post-traitement similaire \u00e0 celui de la fibre formelle de polyvinyle, ce qui permet d'obtenir le produit fibreux.
